Douglas Johnson receives a 2014 Fulbright Specialist award to work in Bhutan
Douglas Johnson is a 2014 Fulbright Specialist recipient. He will
be spending 6 weeks at the Institute of Language and Culture
Studies in Taktse, Bhutan. Along with working to increase the
capacity of the Internet and Computer Technology staff, he will be
working with ILCS lecturers to integrate computer technology in the
classroom. Through a generous donation from the i>clicker company
and the University of Colorado, he will be introducing i>clickers to
the lecturers. This is perhaps the first use of i>clickers in a
Bhutanese school. Please see the report on the use of
i>clickers, an
electronic response system, in Bhutan.
Professor William Ford was awarded 2006 Panofsky Prize.
University of Colorado at Boulder physics Professor William Ford has
been awarded the American Physical Society's 2006 W.K.H. Panofsky
Prize in Experimental Particle Physics.
Ford received the national award in recognition of his research to
better understand the innermost workings of matter, especially
the nature of radioactive decay. He has spent the better part of
30 years working on collider projects, including
electron-positron annihilation experiments, from which findings
have been used to help piece together clues about the early
evolution of the universe.
